Airlines operating out of Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, including Middle East Airlines (MEA), have resumed allowing nationals of the seven Arab countries temporarily banned by the U.S. to travel to the United States after a U.S. Appeals Court froze the ban, for now.

The airlines are expected to comply with the ban if it is imposed again.

President Donald Trump had signed an executive order banning travel to the U.S. for citizens of Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. The order, which was to run for 90 days, also included green-card holders. The order allows the Department of Homeland Security in the U.S. to ban more countries at any time.

At the time that the ban was being enforced, a source at the Directorate of Civil Aviation said that it had not been formally notified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ban, but airlines had started abiding by the new decision.

“Our role will be to ensure airline compliance of the decision whenever we are officially notified by the Lebanese authorities,” the source said.
